Full Terms and Conditions are printed on the reverse side of our rental
agreement. Hirers are requested to read these carefully before signing
the agreement. You must read and accept these Terms and Conditions before
continuing with your online booking.
The Driver:
You must be between the ages of 25 - 75 years, a regular driver and in
good health. Age restrictions apply as follows.
Drivers of 7.5 ton vehicles must have passed their driving test prior
to January 1997. Drivers who have passed their driving test since January 1997 are NOT eligible and are required to be in posession of an HGV license.
Driving Licence:
All British drivers must be in possession of a current, valid driving
licence and have held a full driving licence for at least two years.Drivers holding the new photocard driving licence MUST produce both the card and the paper counterpart detailing driver history.
Drivers with foreign driving licences must present their own national license plus
an International Driving Licence.
Foreign residents in the U.K. may drive on their non-U.K driving licenses for up to one year from commencement of residency.A Passport is required for proof of entry date.
Endorsements:
Your driving licence must be endorsement-free and you must have no pending
motoring offences. Please note however, that some minor endorsements will not render you exempt from having a vehicle with us.
Accidents:
Certain minor driving accidents within the past three years are acceptable.
Hiring Period:
This is calculated on a 24-hour basis, usually from 08:00hrs.
Rental times may be adjusted to suit individual hirers' requirements subject
to vehicle availability.
Returning Rental Vehicles:
Vehicles must always be returned to our rental locations during opening
hours. FVTH Self Drive Hire will not accept responsibility for vehicles
damaged or stolen from outside their premises if dropped-off after hours.
Extension of Rental:
A minimum of 24hrs notice is required to extend the hire of a vehicle. Notice given that falls short of this period may render the driver liable to a charge relevant to the full tarrif rate for the subsequent period + 25%.
Identification:
Your driving licence must be produced each and every time you hire a vehicle
from us. In addition, you must produce two further means of identification,
which must include a utilities bill to you at your present address or
an official letter to you at your present address. You will also be required
to leave a landline telephone number where you can be contacted either
during the day or evening.
Note: Our rental staff reserves the right to refuse your rental if you
do not produce your driving licence, or for any other reason.
Additional Drivers:
In addition to the hirer, it is possible for others to drive the vehicle,
provided they meet FVTH Self Drive Hire's insurance requirements. Additional
drivers will be charged £10 + VAT per additional driver for the duration.
Fuel:
Our rental staff will note on the pre-rental check form and rental agreement,
the reading of the fuel gauge. You are requested to return the vehicle
with the same amount of fuel as you commenced the rental. A re-fuelling
charge will be made if it is necessary to bring the level of fuel up to
where it was when you took the vehicle.
Payment:
The full cost of rental plus a damage deposit must be paid before any
vehicle is released for rental. Payment may be made either by cash, cheque
- supported by a bank cheque card - most major credit/debit cards accepted.
Late returns:
The late return of rental vehicles will be charged at 50% of the renters daily
charge.
Vehicle Availability:
Whilst every effort will be made to provide the exact make and model reserved,
it may be likely that a similar, or better, vehicle will be offered.
Overseas Travel:
With prior approval, it is possible that our vehicles may be taken abroad,
although there are restrictions regarding taking them into some countries.
A surcharge will apply when taking a vehicle outside the U.K. and extra
charges will be made to provide a Green Card and Foreign Breakdown Service.
Please note that the damage deposit you are liable for when travelling abroad increases to £1000 regardless of vehicle type.
For Business Users:
You may drive our vehicles using you own company's fleet insurance cover,
provided we have approved this in advance. In this event, only the restrictions
of your own insurance will apply. It may be worth noting that you will attract cheaper rates when providing your own insurance. Ask our rental staff for details.
Operator's Licence:
The hirer must be in possession of a current and valid Operator's Licence
when renting vehicles in excess of 3.5 tons GVW for hire and reward or
in connection with the hirer's trade or business. New business hirers
must provide evidence to our rental staff that they hold a valid Operator's
Licence. |
